Sylka Uhlig, PhD, RMTh, LCAT, NMT, Professor for music therapy SRH University Heidelberg, Germany

Sylka, professor at SRH University of Applied Sciences, Heidelberg in Germany, lectures in research, music therapy methods and voice. She studied classical music before she commenced her career in music therapy in 1991. She has since practiced music therapy in Europe and USA in psychiatric hospitals, neurological rehabilitation facilities, special education settings, and in private practice.

She has expertise in voice work and regularly holds workshops, trainings and presentations on the voice as being a primary instrument in music therapy (see foto’s). She was the founder of the Voice-Forum, an international collaboration of music therapists with focus on voice. Her PhD study was focused on the effects of singing and rapping for emotion regulation. Sylka has published books and articles about vocal work in music therapy (see publications).
